e.l.f. Bite Size Quad in Pumpkin Pie

Coming in at 5th place is the quad in Pumpkin Pie. The formula in this quad is still amazing, like the other bite-sized quads! The shadows wear for a long time on the eyes and blend beautifully. This quad has two matte shades, a shimmer shade and a foil shade. This warm-toned quad is in varying shades of browns and coppers. The two matte shades are a warm-toned brown, and a neutral brown. The shimmer is a copper and the foil shade is also a variant of the copper color.

While I love this palette for a known look, this palette comes in at 5th place because there is not enough variation in the shades for me. You can get multiple looks out of this quad, but they will all mostly look very similar on the eye. The foil is a slightly more metallic look than the shimmer but on the eye, they look nearly identical. The two matte browns are different which will allow you to have a fully warm-toned eye or a more neutral eye but again, both looks are very similar. There is no deepening shade in this palette and no means of doing a liner. If these are your colors, then this palette is going to be great for you.

My go-to look with this palette is a brown in the crease (either one), and the foil on the lid. I then take the shimmer on the lower lash line. I do really enjoy this palette because I know exactly the kind of look I am going to have and that makes it an easy pick for everyday.

e.l.f. Bite-Size Eyeshadow Quad in Truffles

If you have seen my other blog posts, then you know that I am a fan of the new e.l.f. eyeshadow formula. These new Bite-Size quads have the same formula which already puts the quads in my enjoy category, especially at the $3 price tag. The next few blog posts will be a deep dive into the 6 different quads that I have picked up so far. I plan on ranking these and releasing the posts in accordance from least favorite to most. With that being said, it is important to understand that I think all of these quads are extremely good and that these rankings are just my personal opinion.

Truffles comes in at 6th place. This quad has two matte shades, a sequin shade, and a foil shade. This quad is the coolest-toned neutral of the bunch. The two mattes are neutrals in a gradient of a lighter and darker brown. The sequin is a black shade but when applied to the eye, it comes out as a matte shade. I believe the small shimmer particles in the black are actually to help the shade blend well (which it does). The foil shade is a taupe silver shade which is what makes this palette lean cool toned.

The reason I’m ranking this at 6th place is primarily because cool tones do not look the best with my coloring. That said, the shades perform beautifully on the eyes so if cool-toned shades are your cup of tea, then you should absolutely pick this quad up!

My go-to glam look with this quad is to use the lightest brown through the crease, deepen up the outer corner with the dark brown, put the foiled silver on the lid and then use the black as a shadow liner. You can also smoke out the liner for a more sultry look.

Makeup A Murder Partner In Crime Palette

For Valentine’s Day, my wonderful husband got me a new palette and to be honest, this palette speaks to me on another level. I am a huge true-crime fan and this brand’s aesthetics perfectly combines my two passions (true-crime and makeup).

This palette is my first dive into the indie brand Makeup A Murder, but after some research it appears that this is their third palette release. The palette is a Valentine’s themed palette with shades of pinks and purples. There are 10 shades of varying finishes. The finishes include diamond shimmers, diamond mattes, satin shimmers, and soft mattes as described by the website.

The formulas in this palette are extraordinary, especially in the diamond matte called Soulmate. This is what most people know as a sequin shadow, with glitters suspended in a matte shadow. However, this shadow performs better then any sequin shadow I’ve ever used! The glitters stay in the shadow, not cascading down onto the face over time and they are noticeable on the eye, rather then appearing like a matte shadow.

The other stand out shadow for me was the red shadow called Stolen Heart. This shadow can stain slightly so be prepared for that, but it is extremely pigmented and blends out like a dream.

All in all, I highly recommend this palette! The pan sizes are huge and I’m grateful for that, as I plan on using this palette a ton and I don’t ever want to be without it.

Elf Earth & Ocean Palette

Today we are taking a quick look at the new Elf Earth and Ocean palette. This blue and green-based palette is formulated with the same formula that they have been using for the 18 pan palettes. This formula is extremely pigmented and blends well on the eyes. There are three main shadow types in this palette: matte, shimmer, and foiled shadows.

The foil formula is the most unique of the formulas present in this palette. It almost appears glittery but when blended out, the foil looks wet on the eyelid without even wetting the brush.

I greatly enjoy this palette and am interested in picking up another of the 18-pan palettes, so be on the lookout for another installment in this 18-pan series! I hope they come out with more soon!

Profusion Lovestruck Palette

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, many are looking to find an eyeshadow palette that will provide them with that romantic glam feel. The Lovestruck palette by Profusion might just be the perfect palette for you if you fall into this category.

A beautiful combination of pinks and purples mixed with the neutral colors create an amazing spread of eyeshadows with many possible options. This palette does perform beautifully! I have used this palette and tried the different formulas that are present and they all went on smoothly and stayed put. It is worth noting that there are colors in this palette that do stain so be prepared for that, but that is fairly common when working with purples and pinks.

I do want to touch on the different formulas that are present in the palette. The matte formula is smooth, and blends easily. The satin formula (though there are not many pans in this palette) preform the same as the matte. There are a couple of sequin formula pans in this palette, and as many have come to expect when working with this type of formula, the glitter particles that are present in the matte shade do tend to flake away or blend out, so mostly it turns out looking like a matte shadow. The foil shades are smooth and buttery as to be expected, and in some cases, there appears to be a new foil formula that feels almost like a super shock shadow from Colourpop. These shades feel almost wet to the touch but continue to preform as a powder, drying down once applied. Finally, we do so three different glitter pans in the palette. It is worth noting that when using glitter on the eyes, it is not advised and you should do so at your own risk. With that being said, I did try the formula out and the glitter particles, while large, do adhere to the eyelid perfectly well without a glitter glue or primer.

All in all, this is a beautiful palette and if the color story intrigues you, I would highly recommend you pick it up. I found my at my local Walmart and purchased it myself for around $13.

E.L.F. Putty Eye Primer

Have you ever had problems with eyeshadow showing up well on your eyes? Maybe it creases a lot? I personally have extremely oily eyelids (the only part of my face that is oily) and my shadow just doesn’t stay put. It moves around, muddies up the coloring and creases constantly. For that reason, I have been on the hunt for a good primer. One that helps the shadow stay put, and make it bright.

After going through a bunch of primers, some providing staying power but the shadows look a bit dull, some providing a good base for the pigmentation but then the shadow creases half an hour later, I was recommended the E.L.F. Putty Eye Primer. There are six different shades. I have picked up two of them so far, Rose and White. Below is the description of what works for me when using this type of primer.

I have found that both shades are creamy upon first application and smooths out nicely on the eye. I did notice that once open, the formula dries out a bit over time and therefore takes a bit more work when applying. That isn’t to say that it is dry or dries out completely, but when it has been open for around 24 hours, I find that the formula settles and becomes a little thicker. This is actually for the better, as the primer does seem to stick to the eyelid better and prevents the shadow from slipping around. I also find that even though the primer is thicker, if you let it warm up on the finger for a bit, it will apply smoothly.

I believe that while this primer does require some “working with”, the result is worth it.

Wet n Wild Hello Halo Blushlighter

Today we are going to be talking about the new Hello Halo Blushlighters. Wet n Wild has released MegaGlo Blushlighters in three different shades: Highlight Bling, I Met Someone (I’ve also seen it go under the name After Sex Glow), and Flash Me. These are found on their website and also in stores. I personally have seen them in Rite Aid, Walgreens, and CVS and would guess that they are soon coming to other stores that care the brand.

The pan is split between two shimmer colors, one a highlight and the other a shimmery blush. The formula is comparable to the other MegaGlo highlighters that the brand has released in the past. It is worth noting that the blushes are very glowy, so if that is not your cup of tea then maybe stay away from. These split pans.

I personally found the formula to be very long lasting and blinding when it comes to the highlighters. The blush is also long lasting and gives a nice radiant flush to the cheeks. My personal favorite for my light skin would have to be the Highlight Bling duo, but I can get away with the I Met Someone duo.

The Highlight Bling duo is an icy highlight with a slight pinky sheen and the blush is rosy with a hint of peach. The next shade down is the I Met Someone duo which, as you can see in the photos at the end of the post, is labeled as After Sex Glow on the Blushlighter that I picked up from Walgreens. This duo is a light gold highlighter with a peachy blush. The last of the three shades is called Flash Me and features a deeper gold highlight and a berry shaded blush. I do not personally own the Flash Me duo.

I’m sure most of you are wondering if any of the duos feature shades that have already been released in the singles. The answer is no. Not to my knowledge at least. Again, I am missing the darkest shade so I could not compare to that highlighter but the other two have unique highlighters and blushes. Now, they are close to some of the shades already released so you will have to make up your own mind if it is too close for your liking. I have included pictures below for your comparisons.

Welcome to LineEmUpMakeup!

Hello! My name is Heather and I am a makeup enthusiast. I am NOT a makeup artist but I have been collecting and using makeup for years! I hope to provide some insight into the makeup that I use. It is important though to remember that makeup is not a one size fits all. If something doesn’t work for me but it does work for you please, share your thoughts respectfully so we can all enjoy the products together.

A little about me and my makeup journey. For a little while I tried to create content for a YouTube channel but at this point in my life, that is not something I am wishing to continue. Instead, I want to create a safe environment to talk about makeup. It is important to me that everyone on my blog remember that makeup is something we play with and wash off at the end of the day.

My skin type (because anyone who knows anything about makeup knows that this is a very important factor in whether a product works for you) is dry. I have a skin condition called eczema and sometimes it flairs up on my face. For this reason, I often am looking for hydrating primers, foundations and I do not use setting powders so if that is not what you are looking for, then maybe some of my other product reviews will be helpful to you.
